In the event of an emergency, Smyrna First United Methodist Church Preschool will take the necessary measures to respond appropriately to the emergency. Preschool requires that you provide child insurance information and complete the “Preschool Parent Release Form and
Child Insurance Information” during the Registration process. This will only be necessary in extreme circumstances to provide medical care should we not be able to contact you and your child’s health is in danger.
Please assure that all information for us to contact you is current. Check every so often to make sure we have current phone numbers and emergency contacts.
EVACUATION PLAN
Should the Preschool have to evacuate the building, the following procedures are to be followed:
(1) Preschool staff will have class rolls and emergency numbers with them.
(2) A note will be posted on the door of the Preschool informing parents about the
nature of the emergency, condition of the children, and location of the children.
(3) If the Church area is safe, the children will evacuate to the previously designated area by the main sanctuary. If it is unsafe to remain in the Church area, the children will be taken to the Regal Furniture Store on Lowry Street where they may be picked up by an authorized adult.
(4) If it is required that an alternate plan is required depending upon the emergency without prior notice to parents, parents would then be notified via the news media.
ILLNESS / MEDICAL CONCERNS
For the protection of all children, your child should be kept at home if they show any signs of the following symptoms:
• Fever
• Diarrhea or Vomiting
• Undiagnosed Rash
• Nasal Discharge (cloudy, yellow, or green) or Discharge from eyes or ears.
• Productive or persistent cough
If a child presents any of these symptoms at school, we will call you to come pick them up. Please keep your child home until they have been fever free for 24 hours without medicine. If they have had diarrhea and/or vomiting, they cannot return until 24 hours after the last episode.
Preschool staff will not administer any medication, prescription or otherwise.
