This Friday afternoon with the sun shining I feel a sense of warmth both outside and inside. In a world of conflict and trouble there is a peace inside as I think of God’s love and mercy. Beyond that, I think of home, family, and friends that bring such joy to me. I just sent a birthday card to our daughter, Lisa, who was born February 28, 1960, the day I was ordained. This afternoon I’m going to see our grandson play baseball for MTSU.
This time of the year my thoughts run to fishing. I grew up fishing with my grandfather. Last Monday, cloudy and 53°, was a perfect day to do just that. I caught 13 crappie and a small mouth bass. It was peaceful on the river and the only sound was the ripple of the water over the rocks. Here I find peace with my soul, and here I find the world as God meant it to be.
I hope you find joy today as I have found it and I hope you find peace in your heart brought about by this magnificent God who gave us this day.
