PARKING LOT ATTENDANTS
Smyrna First United Methodist Church
Purpose: direct the traffic on Smyrna First campus on Sunday mornings and at other special times of worship.
Goals:
- Promote safety in the parking lot area
- Allocate space near the sanctuary for visitors
- Ensure proper use of handicapped parking
- Assist visitors and members during inclement weather
- Assist visitors and member with auto related emergencies
Mission: Parking attendants give the first impression of our church as a service-minded place, which relieves the anxiety of a guest trying to find convenient parking.
Playing Skills: be warm-blooded, walk upright, have most of your teeth for smiling, look “spiffy” in an orange vest, be service oriented, welcome guests with a wave and a warm smile, and help guests find convenient parking,
Tools Needed:
- Flashlights
- Umbrellas
- Emergency Equipment i.e. battery charger
Description:
- Arrive thirty minutes early
- Place cones in pastor’s parking places and handicap spaces – remove when needed
- Direct members and guests to appropriate parking spaces
- Fill out spaces one after another
- Offer umbrellas to those who need them, umbrellas may be left in appropriate spot inside church, can be picked up on way out, and returned to parking lot attendant
- Help parents walk children across the street if necessary
- Give clear and precise directions to location of services
- Remember: chivalry is not dead: be polite and Smile! Smile! Smile!
